6/9 Match of the Day: Irish Airborne vs Tyler Black & Marek Brave

by on June 9, 2011

We finish off Insanity Pro Wrestling Week on Match of the Day today…unfortunately, not with an IPW match, ironically enough. However, it does feature two long-time cornerstones of the company in Jake & Dave Crist, the Irish Airborne.

Today’s Match of the Day comes from the March 18, 2006 IWA Mid-South event in Midlothian, Illinois, entitled “March Massacre”. The brothers Crist faced Marek Brave and Tyler Black (now known as Seth Rollins in Florida Championship Wrestling) for the NWA Midwest Tag Team Titles. It’s a really fun junior heavyweight tag match with a lot of neat chain wrestling at the beginning. The thing I dug most about this match was how wild the flying is. In 2011, the high-end high-fliers are so durned crisp and on-point that their stuff looks more beautiful than anything. Don’t get me wrong; I love that stuff. But, there’s an element of danger in the type of flying in a match like this, where they throw caution to the wind and just try to fly as high or fast as humanly possible. Plus, as good as they were here, the Airborne have improved a ton since and it’s great to see them both now and then to realize that.
