6/2 Match of the Day: Fuego & Super Dragon vs Kaz Hayashi & Jimmy Yang

by on June 2, 2011

Today’s Match of the Day comes from the January 3rd, 2003 All Japan event in Osaka, as the Jung Dragons (Kaz Hayashi & Jimmy Yang) united in Japan to face debuting gaijin Fuego (Amazing Red) and Super Dragon.

Super Dragon’s All Japan tour is one of great mythology, as he hadn’t quite exploded into the Super Dragon we all know and love today. He went over there and things quite didn’t work out. There are a ton of stories regarding why he didn’t quite click with All Japan, but it’s generally agreed upon that he wasn’t ready for the All Japan limelight. It’s clear here, as he was alright in this match, but not nearly on the level of the other three. Hayashi and Fuego looked tremendous together and had a ton of chemistry. Even Jimmy Yang (who can be loosey-goosey at times) looked on-point for the most part. It’s a really fun little sprint and if you enjoy the high-paced early-2000’s cruiserweight spot style, you’ll dig this. Credit to Ben Pasco for finding this match.
