5/5 Match of the Day: Shark Boy vs Silver King

by on May 5, 2011

Today’s Match of the Day is another from WCW Saturday Night in the year 2000, as we head to the March 4th episode to watch Silver King face off against Shark Boy.

This match is technically alright, but I selected it because it’s straight-up weird.  I know Shark Boy was under WCW contract at this point, but rarely would you see the random indie guys they brought in be used as equals to guys that were used on television (of which Silver King was one, getting a small push as one-half of Los Fabulosos with El Dandy alongside Stacy Keibler). Not only that, but judging by this match, you’d think Shark Boy was the one getting the push, as the crowd was really behind him and you even had planted fans wearing Shark Boy masks in the front row. Beyond that, there’s some bizarre schtick where Silver King and referee Nick Patrick get into a shoving match, then they start playing with each other’s faces and exchanging hand signals. Just take in the spectacle and enjoy it for what it is.

Did Nick Patrick move to Pawnee and work for its Parks and Recreation department after WCW closed?
