Live Results: Chikara King of Trios Night 2 (FULL RESULTS & DETAILS!)

by on April 16, 2011

Welcome to our live coverage of Night 2 of Chikara’s 2011 King of Trios weekend! Just like last night, we’ll be updating regularly throughout the night with updates before, during and after every bout! As an added bonus, we’re starting a little early with coverage of the 2011 Fan Conclave, featuring the Tursas Bodyslam Challenge!

Like last night, we’d like to thank M&T regular/good friend Ben Pasco, as well as Bryan Hughes and Matt Ryan from Card Subject to Change for sending in the detailed results for tonight’s event. We’ll be updating while matches are going on with details, so please feel free to refresh the page every minute or so!

At 7:30 PM EST, the match coverage begins! If you’re going to be there or are wanting to comment on the night’s festivities, please go to Twitter, throw up your thoughts and tag it with #supportprowres!

-There’s over-the-PA commentary for the festivities from various Chikara personalities.
-They also have tons of swag and a popular feature from last year: the mock family photos.
-Challengers included various fans, El Generico and Akira Tozawa.
-The competition seemed to be over until Green Ant landed in Philadelphia! He hit the ring with his red, white and blue workout pants, ready to roll! He rocked the big man, got him up..and Jakob Hammermeier chopblocked Green Ant’s knee! Tursas (under nefarious means) wins the challenge!
-Sam Bush is on stage now! The entire Chikara roster was out, fist-pumping to “The Touch”.
-Dr. Keith Lipinski would like everyone to know he’s recovering after Akira Tozawa got confused when he failed to bodyslam Tursas and lifted Keith himself for the big slam.

-It’s ridiculously rainy in Philadelphia, so big ups to the fans for braving the conditions.
-Ben thinks he’s spotted Brian XL, so let’s cross our fingers we get some of that Cookie Twix tonight.
-3.0 (Shane Matthews & Scott “Jagged” Parker) are selling foam fingers. Self-marketing at its finest.

The first round matches have been announced during the intro…

-The Osirian Portal  vs Team Dragon Gate
–F.I.S.T. vs Team Osaka Pro
-Mike Quackenbush, Manami Toyota, & Jigsaw vs Team Michinoku Pro
-The Bruderschaft  vs The Colony

Ben said they’ve added more seats and they’re filling them; more people in attendance than last night.

We’re starting now!

Archibald Peck (w/Veronica) vs ????
-Peck’s entrance music is a marching band cover of “Any Way You Want It” by Journey.
COLT CABANA is his foe!
-“Adam West is a more understated actor than Peck…in a good way.” – Ben
-Peck’s schtick seems to be getting over. Usual Cabana comedy bout.
-Peck has tried his finisher four times and tripped (his deal seems to be that he’s a stumbling buffoon that’s good for laughs).
-He hits it on the fifth attempt! PECK WINS! PECK WINS!
-Ben said the win got Peck really over with this audience.
-Referee Bryce Remsburg was apologizing to the crowd for missing interference from Veronica.

2) Quarterfinal Match:
F.I.S.T. (Icarus, Chuck Taylor & Johnny Gargano) d. Team Osaka Pro (Atsushi Kotoge, Daisuke Harada & Ultimate Spider, Jr.)
-FIST is one of a few acts who are debuting new, custom entrance music this weekend.
-Like last night, everyone’s wearing the pink Larry Sweeney armbands.
-The crowd is chanting Haruda’s name; Osaka Pro are beloved.
-“Jonathan Barber needs to regain control of this match or Lisa Turtle won’t go to prom with him” – overheard in the crowd.
-“Match is rad” – Ben. Dives are a-plenty and Ben said Gargano’s done a number of spots he’s never seen him bust out before.
-Osaka Pro are the kings of double and triple teams. If you’re into that bing-bang-boom-style of 2011 US indie junior heavyweight tag matches, this is perfect for you.
-People who’ve seen both this and last year’s FIST/Osaka Pro matches are saying this is the better of the two bouts.
-They’re getting a standing ovation in the middle of the match. The building is LOVING this.
-FIST wins via schoolboy with the tights held. Crowd is mad in a good way.
-“Awesome match…just wow.” -Ben
-Crowd chanting “PLEASE COME BACK” drowned out by others chanting “PLEASE STAY!”.

3) Rey de Voladores Eliminator #1:
El Generico d. Zack Sabre, Jr., Pinkie Sanchez,  & Marshe Rockett to advance to tomorrow’s finals!
-Generico is insanely over.
-Sabre, Jr. looks strong early.
-Marshe is channeling his inner Ronnie Garvin. He’s chopped Generico and Pinkie ridiculously hard. Ben said they sound like some of the loudest he’s heard. “His chops are INSANE” -Ben.
-Sabre BLASTED Rockett with a headbutt to return the favor. This match would seemingly fit better in a Strong Style Tournament than the King of Flyers, but they’re loving it live.
Marshe Rockett eliminated via a DDT from Pinkie Sanchez.
Zack Sabre Jr. eliminated via Pinkie Sanchez as well.
-Director of Fun Wink Vavasur has come out and made Derek Sabato take off his BDK ref shirt and put on a regular Chikara referee uniform. Sabato still showing evil tendencies though.
Pinkie Sanchez eliminated and Generico wins the bout via turnbuckle brainbuster!

4) Quarterfinal Match:
The Osirian Portal (Ophidian, Amasis, and Hieracon) d. Team Dragon Gate (Akira Tozawa, Super Shisa and KAGETORA)
-“I want two things: Hieracon vs Zack Sabre, Jr. and Shane Matthews and Tozawa in a screaming contest.” -Ben.
-Crowd is exhausted from the last two matches, but the match is solid thus far.
-Tozawa & Hieracon in the ring together look incredibly fluid.
-“History books have more lies than Hieracon, because he’s the truth.” -Ben.
-Ben keeps saying that Hieracon & Tozawa are stealing this match, so I shall believe it to be truth.
-Amasis wins for the Portal with his 450 Splash. Solid bout.
-Crowd chants “Please Come Back” at Team Dragon Gate.

They’re going to auction off the Great Sasuke’s ring-worn mask tonight to raise money for Japanese tsunami relief.
-Ben wants everyone to buy Zack Sabre, Jr.’s “I Heart Armbars” shirt.

We’re back!

They showed a video on the big screen. “Twelve warriors will fight, one will survive”. Ben said it’s to promote whatever they’re doing for the singles title.

5) Eddie Kingston d. “The Anarchist” Arik Cannon
Kingston came out to “Highway Man” with a yellow bandana and Larry Sweeney t-shirt on. Noticeably crying for his fallen friend.
-Kingston flattens Cannon with a tope early!
-Cannon with Total Anarchy (twisting elevated neckbreaker) from the guardrail to the concrete! King looked like he got DESTROYED!
-Kingston wins with the Sliding D. Not the longest match, but they did nothing but throw bombs and take harsh bumps off of suplexes and tosses. Ben said it was super-stiff.
-After the match, Kingston hangs his Larry Sweeney shirt on the ropes.

6) Quarterfinal Match:
The Colony (Fire Ant, Soldier Ant & Green Ant) d. The Bruderschaft (Tim Donst, Delirious, & Jakob Hammermeier) vs
-Jakob is “BDK Ant” for the evening.
-Jakob and Donst’s schtick seem to be standing out the most from Ben’s live perspective.
-Each BDK member individually got the triple forearms to the face.
-Tursas accidentally hits Jakob, then Green Ant SLAMS TURSAS! Green Ant picks Jakob up in the Torture Rack and makes it a win, Titus O’Neal style! Good match!
-The crowd’s going nuts, chanting “YOU GOT SLAMMED!”

7) Rey de Voladores Eliminator #2:
1-2-3 Kid d. Amazing Red, Obariyon, & Frightmare to advance to tomorrow’s final against El Generico!
-The Kid isn’t the only one flashing back this weekend. Red’s wearing his old-school 2001 gear!
-“Red and Frightmare wrestling each other just feels right.” -Ben.
-The Kid is fantastic just working the corner.
-The Kid almost busts out the “Suck it” crotch chop, but gets stopped by the referee.
-EDIT: The Kid shook RED’s hand, then kicked him…then apologized. Now he’s doing your usual Chikara hijinks spots.
Amazing Red eliminated by Obariyon’s top rope DDT. Red SPIKED himself on it. Ben said Red looked in top form tonight.
Obariyon eliminated by Frightmare.
Frightmare eliminated by 1-2-3 Kid with a TOP ROPE X-FACTOR! 1-2-3 KID VERSUS EL GENERICO TOMORROW NIGHT! The crowd goes NUTS!

8. Quarterfinal Match:
Team Michinoku Pro (Great Sasuke, Jinsei Shinzaki & Dick Togo) d. Mike Quackenbush, Jigsaw & Manami Toyota
Quack’s wearing a fancy robe and entered to his old walkout song (which he borrowed from Sasuke), entitled “Just a Hero”.
-This is as serious of an environment as you will see in a Chikara ring.
(NOTE: We got confirmation that the post-intermission video announced a 12-man tournament for the Chikara singles title starting on May 21st.)
-Dick Togo has NO problem beating up Manami Toyota.
-After a series of moves from all six, they busted out the old Michinoku Pro spinning jump spot.
-Toyota takes out the M-Pro trio with a dive! “This has been awesome so far!”, says Ben.
-The M-Pro crew are getting heat on Jigsaw.
-Just as I type that, Quack gets the tag and GOES BALLISTIC on the M-Pro crew! You’ve never seen Quack so revved up!
-Sasuke did a swanton to the outside onto nothing but a chair…WITH THE LEGS UP!
-Togo BLASTED Toyota with a lariat to the stomach! Jigsaw hits the coast-to-coast dropkick!
-Michinoku Pro wins when Sasuke pins Quack with a powerbomb! NUTSO MATCH!
-Sasuke & Quack shake hands in the middle of the ring to a huge ovation from the crowd.
