4/12 Match of the Day: Paul London vs Brian Kendrick

by on April 12, 2011

Today’s Match of the Day comes from the January 5th, 2007 edition of WWE Smackdown, as Paul London faced then-WWE Tag Team Championship partner Brian Kendrick in a “Beat the Clock” match. The time had already been set at 7:53 earlier in the night, so if neither man could get a pin in that time, the match would be called off.

What I love about this match is that they wrestled like two friends who were competitive. They didn’t try turning one subtle heel, they didn’t goof off…they just wrestled. They did almost eight minutes of really crisp, snug grappling trying to get a pinfall. They didn’t try to hurt each other, nor did they do any big moves. But, the pace was breakneck.  This might be my favorite match either guy had in WWE.

The match can be seen under the cut…
